Bleach Wipes

Medical grade bleach wipes

The Microdot bleach wipe is an Environmental protection agency, EPA registered hospital use disinfectant bleach wipe which can also be used in homes and offices for disinfecting surfaces so that all the disease causing microbes will be killed. These wipes contain sodium hypochlorite in 0.525% concentration, equivalent to 1:10 dilution. The sodium hypochlorite chemical in the wipes will act on the cells of bacteria, virus, fungi and other harmful microbes destroying these microbes. Hence the dead microbes will not be able to replicate themselves and spread diseases.

The wipes can be used for both cleaning and disinfecting. Details of the many spores, virus and bacteria which it will destroy are provided. Staphylococcus aureus and strains which are resistant to methicillin, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella enterica, enterococcus faecalis, Trichophyton mentagrophytes are some of the bacteria the wipes will kill within five minutes. For killing the Hepatitis C virus (HCV), the surface should be first cleaned and then disinfected. The time taken to kill the Hepatitis B, and C virus is thirty seconds. It will take five minutes to destroy the Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1). The clostridium difficile spores will be destroyed in one step in about three minutes when the surface is cleaned with the wipes.

The wipes are designed for conveniently cleaning and decontaminating surfaces and equipment used for healthcare and other purposes. They are used also for disinfecting to kill the microbes. However the wipes should only be used on surfaces which are hard and not porous. Each container will have twelve wipes for cleaning the surface. To ensure that the wipes do not get spoiled and remain effective for disinfecting, it is advisable to keep the Bleach wipes in a canister which is tightly closed, when it is not being used .

The wipes are designed to meet the stringent healthcare norms of hospitals. For disinfecting, first the surface should be cleaned to remove soil and other dirt. Then the surface should be wiped so that it is completely wet. The user should wait for three minutes and then discard the wipe. The bleach wipes should be used to disinfect blood glucose meters, since diabetes patients often are vulnerable to different infections. In hospitals they should be used for disinfecting reception counters, stretchers, wash basins, exam tables, dialysis machines, respiratory equipment, autoclaves, and wheelchairs. They can be also used for wiping dental chairs, counters, and other general applications like doorknobs, sinks, toilets and railings.
